Domingo, 15 de julio, hoy no es un d\u00eda cualquiera. Hoy es la fecha que define si mi equipo avanza a cuadrangulares finales.<\/p>

Me levant\u00e9 con la intenci\u00f3n de solo ver el partido y de que este d\u00eda pas\u00e9 lo m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido posible. Que las 7:00 p.m. ocurran en este momento. Sin embargo, es un d\u00eda laboral, as\u00ed que me dispondr\u00e9 dentro de poco a mis labores diarias, como ser\u00e1 ba\u00f1arme, desayunar y salir para\u00a0 el trabajo.<\/p>

Una vez terminado mi ba\u00f1o, voy al closet y veo que mi camisa favorita esta planchada. \u00bfPor qu\u00e9 no usarla hoy siendo un d\u00eda tan importante? As\u00ed que decid\u00ed pon\u00e9rmela.<\/p>

Luego, para desayunar abro mi nevera y veo dos porciones de pizza; algo que no ser\u00e1 una decisi\u00f3n dif\u00edcil. Las calent\u00e9 y las disfrut\u00e9 como la noche anterior cuando abr\u00ed la caja y me inund\u00f3 el olor de queso mezclado con el humo penetrante y grasoso del tocino.<\/p>

Con energ\u00eda, con mi ropa favorita y luego de un desayuno genial que cualquier persona con dieta envidiar\u00eda, me dispuse a salir a la estaci\u00f3n de autobuses.<\/p>

El clima era de un soleado maravilloso donde no se vislumbraban nubes en el horizonte y, sin embargo, hab\u00eda una fresca brisa que me dec\u00eda: \u201choy ser\u00e1 un gran d\u00eda\u201d. Llegu\u00e9 a la estaci\u00f3n y, para mi sorpresa, la parada de espera estaba casi desierta, as\u00ed que al momento de la llegada de mi autob\u00fas pude entrar con calma; casi como si fuera un turno de madrugada donde solo puedes ver al conductor y a tres personas saliendo de alg\u00fan bar con mareo y canciones a\u00fan pegadas en sus cabezas. Tom\u00e9 asiento y pude tener ese privilegio de la clase trabajadora: escoger mi puesto frente a la ventana y disfrutar el paisaje, definitivamente, \u201choy ser\u00e1 un gran d\u00eda\u201d.<\/p>

El trayecto de mi casa hasta mi trabajo fue de aproximadamente 20 minutos que se pasaron volando, el tr\u00e1fico fue ligero, tomamos todos los sem\u00e1foros en color verde, as\u00ed que solo falt\u00f3 que en la radio se escuchara alguna canci\u00f3n de los Rolling Stones para hacerlo m\u00e1s que perfecto.<\/p>

Llegu\u00e9 a mi trabajo y me encontr\u00e9 con una celebraci\u00f3n por la consecuci\u00f3n de un contrato que ten\u00eda en vilo a la compa\u00f1\u00eda y que podr\u00eda hacer que quienes participamos en dicho proyecto tuvi\u00e9ramos un aumento de sueldo, era incre\u00edble lo que estaba pasando este d\u00eda\u2026 Todo era perfecto\u2026 Definitivamente, \u201choy ser\u00e1 un gran d\u00eda\u201d.<\/p>

Con mejor salario y con una sonrisa de oreja a oreja, me sent\u00e9 a trabajar pensando solo en la fecha de las 7:00 p.m. Ya me imaginaba en el estadio saltando, cantando, gritando los goles y, por qu\u00e9 no\u2026 este d\u00eda era tan perfecto, que incluso llegu\u00e9 a imaginar a una chica a mi lado con el mismo sentimiento y pasi\u00f3n por mi equipo, me imagin\u00e9 saliendo del estadio a celebrar en alg\u00fan bar y pasar toda la noche charlando sobre f\u00fatbol y sobre lo genial que era compartir la misma pasi\u00f3n.<\/p>

Un fuerte grito me hizo levantarme de la silla y salir de mi estado de so\u00f1ar despierto.<\/p>

\u00a1Ram\u00edrez, ya es hora de salida, vamos que nos deja el Uber! \u00bfEn qu\u00e9 momento se acab\u00f3 el d\u00eda? \u00bfPas\u00e9 toda mi jornada laboral so\u00f1ando?\u2026 Bueno, me repuse y sal\u00ed con una alegr\u00eda tremenda, definitivamente, \u201choy ser\u00e1 un gran d\u00eda\u201d.<\/p>

Junto a dos compa\u00f1eros de trabajo, pedimos un Uber y nos embarcamos rumbo al estadio. El solo pensar en sentir el estadio lleno, el papel picado que cae desde la tribuna popular, el grito ensordecedor de los asistentes, la marea amarilla que se pierde en el horizonte y las canciones cantadas por el estadio hasta quedar sin voz, me ten\u00eda obnubilado y con una inminente ansiedad de entrar. Solo esper\u00e1bamos que los filtros de seguridad estuvieran r\u00e1pidos y, efectivamente, pas\u00f3, ya nada podr\u00eda arruinar esto porque definitivamente, \u201choy ser\u00e1 un gran d\u00eda\u201d.<\/p>

Una vez entramos a la tribuna frontal, mis amigos y yo tomamos asiento y vimos c\u00f3mo el estadio poco a poco comenzaba a llenarse, las tribunas ya se ve\u00edan de un solo color y la ansiedad y la tensi\u00f3n se pod\u00edan sentir. Todos ten\u00edamos en nuestra cabeza que la noche de aquel d\u00eda ser\u00eda recordada por a\u00f1os, y pensaba que en cualquier d\u00eda dif\u00edcil que llegase a tener en un futuro cercano, podr\u00eda alojarme en los recuerdos de esta noche.<\/p>

Los 20 minutos de espera para comenzar los himnos se me hicieron eternos, las t\u00edpicas charlas de informes, recibos y dem\u00e1s tareas del trabajo que nos un\u00eda a m\u00ed con mis amigos nos alcanzaron incluso, para pensar qu\u00e9 har\u00edamos ma\u00f1ana una vez lleg\u00e1ramos a nuestro turno. As\u00ed pasamos esos eternos 20 minutos hasta que el \u00e1rbitro dio inicio al encuentro; todo lo que pas\u00e9 esa jornada, la ansiedad y emoci\u00f3n, llegaban a su cl\u00edmax, era el momento por el que tanto hab\u00eda esperado\u2026 Les ser\u00e9 sincero: vi todo el partido de pie, la emoci\u00f3n no me dejaba relajarme, en ese momento yo me sent\u00eda como el \u00fanico espectador, donde solo pensaba: \u201choy ser\u00e1 un gran d\u00eda\u201d\u2026<\/p>

Minuto 35 del primer tiempo: P\u00e9rez se adelanta por la banda derecha y lanza un centro dirigido a la cabeza de Cardona, Cardona se levanta, pero antes de golpear el bal\u00f3n recibe un codazo y cae al suelo, sus compa\u00f1eros, viendo la situaci\u00f3n, reaccionan increpando al \u00e1rbitro que sin dudar se\u00f1ala con su brazo el punto penal\u2026 En ese momento, todo el estadio grit\u00f3 al un\u00edsono con la esperanza de que se abriera el marcador y pudi\u00e9ramos celebrar\u2026 Definitivamente, \u201choy ser\u00e1 un gran d\u00eda\u201d.<\/p>

Cardona se levant\u00f3 y pidi\u00f3 el bal\u00f3n, lo tom\u00f3 con una confianza y nervios de acero, lo acomod\u00f3 en el centro del \u00e1rea y sin titubear, tom\u00f3 impulso y anot\u00f3 el primer tanto del partido con un potente disparo al centro del arco. La multitud enloqueci\u00f3 y solo pude sentir un abrazo desde mi costado derecho con una frase que se perd\u00eda con el ruido del ambiente: \u201chombre, este a\u00f1o s\u00ed es\u201d\u2026 Definitivamente, esta ser\u00e1 una gran noche.<\/p>

Con esa emoci\u00f3n latente, el partido sigui\u00f3 hasta que, faltando dos minutos para terminar, el \u00e1rbitro se percat\u00f3 de algo. Todos nos miramos extra\u00f1ados por la abrupta detenci\u00f3n del juego. Al parecer, era algo grave y nadie pod\u00eda percatarse de qu\u00e9 se trataba. El \u00e1rbitro se dirigi\u00f3 r\u00e1pidamente al banco del equipo suplente para preguntar sobre una informaci\u00f3n que le llegaba desde la comunicaci\u00f3n interna. Luego, sumamente molesto, el juez grit\u00f3 a todos los que estaban presentes y se dirigi\u00f3 hasta el centro del campo. Con una confusi\u00f3n generalizada, hizo sonar su silbato y, se\u00f1alando con sus manos el centro del campo, dio por terminado el partido. Hab\u00edamos ganado\u2026<\/p>

Dos segundos despu\u00e9s, el estadio estall\u00f3 de alegr\u00eda, la gente se abraz\u00f3 y todos salimos del lugar con un \u00e9xtasis casi similar a la alegr\u00eda m\u00e1xima\u2026 hab\u00eda sido una gran noche. Solo esperaba llegar a mi casa y recostarme pensando en lo genial que hab\u00eda sido este d\u00eda.<\/p>

Mientras caminaba, alguien en la fila de salida hablaba fuertemente junto a otro colega sobre la raz\u00f3n de lo sucedido en el partido en los \u00faltimos minutos: resulta que el equipo contario hab\u00eda realizado<\/p>

cuatro cambios de jugadores extranjeros donde, por reglamento de la liga local, solo se permiten tres. Es decir, no ganamos por 1-0 sino por 3-0, aumentando nuestra diferencia de gol en la tabla general; es incre\u00edble que esto a\u00fan pase, c\u00f3mo no darse cuenta\u2026<\/p>

As\u00ed que el azar y el esfuerzo se unieron para hacer de este d\u00eda un gran d\u00eda.<\/p>

Es incre\u00edble que la pasi\u00f3n por algo te nuble la raz\u00f3n, luego, m\u00e1s tranquilo, pensaba: es verdad que mi equipo pudo haber perdido y no haberse dado una noche como la de hoy, pero existen esos d\u00edas donde todo se junta para salir bien, como dec\u00eda mi madre: \u201csi todo sale perfecto en un d\u00eda, solo queda comprar la loter\u00eda\u201d. As\u00ed que una vez llegu\u00e9 a mi barrio, camin\u00e9 una cuadra de m\u00e1s para ir hasta la farmacia de la esquina para comprar la loter\u00eda que jugaba esa noche. Al llegar al local, estaba tan oscura la calle que solo pude ver el letrero de la farmacia, no me import\u00f3 y camin\u00e9 hasta mi destino, salud\u00e9 cort\u00e9smente a la se\u00f1ora que me atendi\u00f3 y le dije: \u201cdame el 1935 de la loter\u00eda nacional\u201d. Escog\u00ed este n\u00famero por la camiseta de Cardona y el minuto de su gol.<\/p>

Pagu\u00e9 mi boleto, me desped\u00ed y antes de voltearme sent\u00ed un fr\u00edo por mi cuello\u2026 era un arma,<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>alguien<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>altamente<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>agitado me dijo: \u201c\u00a1dame todo lo que tengas!\u201d<\/strong>, pero, en mi estado de shock, solo dije: \u201ctodo lo que tengo es este boleto de loter\u00eda\u201d, el sujeto lo tom\u00f3 de mi mano y emprendi\u00f3 la huida, desapareciendo en el horizonte de una calle sin iluminaci\u00f3n.<\/p>

Sunday, July 15th, today is not just any day. Today is the date that determines whether my team advances to the final playoffs.<\/p>

I woke up with the intention of just watching the game and making this day pass as quickly as possible until 7:00 p.m. However, it’s a working day, so I’ll soon get ready for my daily tasks, such as taking a shower, having breakfast, and heading to work.<\/p>

After finishing my shower, I go to the closet and see that my favorite shirt is ironed. Why not wear it today, considering it’s such an important day? So, I decided to put it on.<\/p>

Next, for breakfast, I open my fridge and see two slices of pizza; an easy decision to make. I heat them up and enjoy them, just like the night before when I opened the box and was engulfed by the smell of cheese mixed with the penetrating and greasy smoke of bacon.<\/p>

Energized, in my favorite outfit, and after a fantastic breakfast that anyone on a diet would envy, I set out for the bus station.<\/p>

The weather is wonderfully sunny with no clouds on the horizon, and yet, there’s a fresh breeze telling me, “today will be a great day.” I arrive at the station, and to my surprise, the waiting area is almost deserted. So, when my bus arrives, I can board calmly, almost as if it were an early morning shift where you only see the driver and three people stumbling out of a bar with dizziness and songs still stuck in their heads. I take a seat and have that privilege of the working class: choosing my seat by the window and enjoying the scenery, definitely, “today will be a great day.”<\/p>

The journey from my house to my workplace takes about 20 minutes, which fly by. The traffic is light, we catch all the green lights, so the only thing missing is a Rolling Stones song on the radio to make it more than perfect.<\/p>

I arrive at work and find a celebration for securing a contract that had the company on edge and could result in a salary increase for those involved in the project. It’s incredible what is happening this day… Everything is perfect… Definitely, “today will be a great day.”<\/p>

With a better salary and a wide smile, I sit down to work, thinking only about the 7:00 p.m. date. I already imagine myself in the stadium, jumping, singing, screaming for the goals, and, why not… this day is so perfect that I even imagine a girl next to me with the same feeling and passion for my team. I imagine leaving the stadium to celebrate in a bar and spending the whole night chatting about football and how great it is to share the same passion.<\/p>

A loud shout makes me get up from the chair and snap out of my daydreaming.<\/p>

“Ram\u00edrez, it’s time to leave, our Uber is waiting! When did the day end? Did I spend my entire workday daydreaming?… Well, I composed myself and left with tremendous joy, definitely, “today will be a great day.”<\/p>

With two colleagues, we ordered an Uber and embarked on our way to the stadium. Just thinking about feeling the stadium filled, the confetti falling from the stands, the deafening roar of the attendees, the yellow wave disappearing on the horizon, and the songs sung by the stadium until losing their voices had me spellbound and with an imminent eagerness to enter. We only hoped that the security checks would be fast, and indeed, it happened; nothing could ruin this because definitely, “today will be a great day.”<\/p>

Once we entered the front stands, my friends and I took our seats and watched as the stadium gradually filled up. The stands were already a single color, and the anxiety and tension could be felt. We all had in our minds that the night of that day would be remembered for years, and I thought that on any difficult day I might have in the near future, I could dwell on the memories of this night.<\/p>

The 20-minute wait to start the anthems felt endless, the typical work-related discussions of reports, receipts, and other tasks that connected me with my friends even reached the point of thinking about what we would do tomorrow once we finished our shift. That’s how we spent those eternal 20 minutes until the referee kicked off the match; everything I went through that day, the anxiety and excitement, reached their climax. It was the moment I had been waiting for so much… I’ll be honest: I watched the entire game standing, the excitement wouldn’t let me relax. At that moment, I felt like the only spectator, thinking only, “today will be a great day.”<\/p>

35th minute of the first half: P\u00e9rez advances down the right wing and sends a cross aimed at Cardona’s head. Cardona rises, but before hitting the ball, he receives an elbow and falls to the ground. His teammates, seeing the situation, react by confronting the referee who, without hesitation, points to the penalty spot… At that moment, the entire stadium shouted in unison with the hope that the score would open, and we could celebrate… Definitely, “today will be a great day.”<\/p>

Cardona got up and asked for the ball, took it with confidence and nerves of steel, placed it in the center of the penalty area, and without hesitation, took a run-up and scored the first goal of the match with a powerful shot to the center of the goal. The crowd went wild, and I could only feel a hug from my right side with a phrase that got lost in the ambient noise: “man, this year it is” … Definitely, this will be a great night.<\/p>

With that latent excitement, the game continued until, with two minutes left, the referee noticed something. We all looked at each other in surprise at the abrupt halt of the game. Apparently, it was something serious, and no one could figure out what it was. The referee quickly went to the substitute team’s bench to inquire about information that came through internal communication. Then, extremely annoyed, the referee shouted at everyone present and went to the center of the field. With widespread confusion, he blew his whistle and, pointing to the center of the field, declared the end of the match. We had won…<\/p>

Two seconds later, the stadium erupted in joy, people hugged each other, and we all left the place with an ecstasy almost similar to the maximum joy… It had been a great night. I only hoped to get home and lie down thinking about how great this day had been.<\/p>

As I walked, someone in the exit line was loudly talking with another colleague about the reason for what happened in the last minutes of the game: it turns out that the opposing team had made four substitutions of foreign players where, according to the local league regulations, only three are allowed. That is, we didn’t win 1-0 but 3-0, increasing our goal difference in the general table; it’s incredible that this still happens, how did we not notice…<\/p>

So, chance and effort came together to make this day a great day.<\/p>

It’s amazing how passion for something clouds your judgment; later, calmer, I thought: it’s true that my team could have lost and not had a night like today, but there are those days when everything comes together to go well, as my mother used to say: “if everything goes perfectly in a day, all that’s left is to buy the lottery.” So, once I reached my neighborhood, I walked an extra block to go to the corner pharmacy to buy the lottery I played that night. Upon arriving at the store, the street was so dark that I could only see the pharmacy sign. I didn’t care and walked to my destination, courteously greeted the lady who attended me, and said, “give me the 1935 of the national lottery.” I chose this number because of Cardona’s shirt and the minute of his goal.<\/p>

I paid for my ticket, said goodbye, and before turning around, I felt a chill down my neck… it was a weapon, someone highly agitated told me, “give me everything you have!” But, in my state of shock, I just said, “all I have is this lottery ticket,” the guy took it from my hand and fled, disappearing on the horizon of an unlit street.<\/p>
